Crimson Moon Crossplay and Co-Op: How 2-Player Online Works
Does Crimson Moon have crossplay? Yes — 2-player online co-op works across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Here's what to know about co-op and toggles.
Yes — Crimson Moon has crossplay. The game's 2-player online co-op works across PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, so a PC Nephilim and a console Nephilim can hunt Gildenarch together. Steam's own store listing confirms the modes: Single-player, Co-op, and Online Co-op.
How Co-Op Works
Crimson Moon is built around 2-player online co-op — official material repeats "solo or with a friend" as the core pitch, from zone clears through the Savage Dead Gods. Both players bring their own Nephilim and loadout, and the run structure (zones, boons, Purify Loot) is the same in co-op as it is solo. There is no couch/local co-op listed — this is online co-op only.
The Crossplay Toggle
The game includes a crossplay on/off setting, and launch-week community discussion (including the game's own subreddit threads) has been working through exactly how matchmaking behaves when you disable it — for example, whether players who turn crossplay off are only matched with others who did the same. The existence of the toggle is confirmed; the fine print of matchmaking pools is to be confirmed as players test it.
Controller Support on Every Platform
Crimson Moon ships with full controller support and lists gamepad as recommended, with explicit DualShock and DualSense support on the Steam side — so PS5 and Xbox controllers all work. If you are picking a platform purely for co-op with a friend, any of the three works; the bigger practical question is where your friend is, since console players make up a large share of the early population according to player reports.
Other Co-Op Questions
Cross-progression (carrying a save between Steam and console) is not confirmed in official material — treat it as an open question. For everything else about how runs play with a partner, see the gameplay and combat guide.
